In the 1950's the Martin family remodeled the home. They dug out and poured a concrete basement, bricked the exterior of the house and replaced the windows. The back porch was converted into a kitchen and additional rooms. What was once the kitchen became the dining room, and the stairway was replaced with a wide red oak staircase with low risers. Red oak floors and trim were added, with much of the trim coming from red oaks on the property. The fireplace from the original home in the kitchen (now dining room) was sealed off and a new fireplace built in the living room. A second bath was added to the second floor, something unheard of back in the 50's.
The first floor has one bedroom, the living room, dining room, office, kitchen, bath, breakfast room, and family room.
The second floor has four bedrooms, one full bath, and an enclosed sun porch room over the front porch.
The third floor contains the master bedroom suite with a full bath with a garden tub and a shower, walk-in closets, a studio/office area, and a bonus room.
